While Eric B. Morrell is an attorney dedicated to serving the community of Rutgers University and the greater New Brunswick area, he extends his legal expertise to serve university communities across the entire state. For instance, Mr. Morrell recently played a pivotal role in the re-chartering of the Kappa Xi Kappa Chapter of the Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity at NJIT, another prominent New Jersey university. As a proud alumnus brother and former National Standards Committeeman of Sigma Alpha Mu, Mr. Morrell served as a legal consultant for the chapter, helping them to navigate university policies and national fraternity standards in their re-establishment, thus renewing a 60+-year-old staple of the NJIT campus.
Aside from providing his legal services to an NJIT fraternity, Mr. Morrell has helped students at NJIT with Title IX matters. In a recent case, he advocated for a client who experienced sexual harassment and assault. After becoming familiar with the university’s specific policies and Title IX procedures and practices, Mr. Morrell and his client prevailed and the perpetrator faced serious consequences, leaving the client and their family elated with the result. Whether a client is facing allegations of misconduct or bringing allegations against another party, Mr. Morrell is dedicated to ensuring that clients’ rights are protected and delivering the best possible results.
In addition to Rutgers and NJIT, Mr. Morrell has represented a number of Princeton University students in court proceedings for allegations including underage drinking and trespassing. Over his 27 years practicing law in the area and his involvement in college students’ defense, Mr. Morrell has become very familiar with the policies and procedures of these universities, in addition to his vast experience in the Superior and municipal courts serving these university jurisdictions
As an attorney, Mr. Morrell is committed to educating and assisting New Jersey college students in the various jurisdictions they may encounter. He frequently speaks to undergraduate fraternities and student organizations on Title IX, personal development, and other relevant issues college students may face. Our blog frequently features articles on such issues as well. If you have any questions regarding legal issues students face at Rutgers, Princeton, NJIT, TCNJ, Montclair, Monmouth University, Seton Hall, Rowan, or any other NJ university/college, please contact our offices.
